The Pest Bully team was recently called into what was a seemingly successful 4 star restaurant. Much to the business owner’s surprise, the Department of Health had closed down the business after reports of pest damage to the electrical wiring.
Many business owners do not realise the many consequences of not having regular pest inspects before it’s too late. Even if you don’t have visible signs of a pest infestation, they can still be there! Unfortunately for this particular client, a significant amount of damage had already been done by the time we were called in.
Of course, in typical Pest Bully fashion, we still managed to save the day. We secured the business of those unwanted cockroaches with effective treatments and put the right protection measures in place to prevent those pesky pests from returning. However, a lot of hassle could have been saved if the restaurant had been having regular pest inspections.
Pests are naturally drawn to food premises like restaurants as they provide a good source of food, water and shelter. But restaurants aren’t the only places pests can attack. Cockroach infestations are a big issue for many homes and commercial properties as they can carry harmful bacteria and disease, which can then be transferred onto appliances, food and humans!
Annual treatments are often sufficient enough for residential homes, but for commercial properties, such as restaurants and hotels, a more frequent treatment is highly advisable.
Sometimes it can be tempting to attack a colony of pests yourself, however, if not treated suitably for that particular insect, the pest is likely to subsist or even reinvade.
Pest invasions are not only detrimental to the success of your business; they can also be extremely harmful to you and your customers’ health (besides, no one wants to eat with contaminated cutlery, or find pest droppings around their feet whilst dining out – gross!)
